BonafideBoards
@BonafideBoards Bonafide Boarding

Hello,

My name is Billy Lutz. I am affiliated with Bonafide Boarding. We are looking at putting a twitter widget on our website. The only problem is that when we put the code into our site, nothing shows up. The code appears to be vertically spaced to not allow our site to read it. Can you please help me out with this? Thank you for your time.

Hi Billy, would you please include the code you're pasting into your website's HTML (or a link to the site in question)? If you could also elaborate on "the code appears to be vertically spaced to not allow our site to read it" that would help - I'm not completely sure I understand what you meant by that.

new TWTR.Widget({
version: 2,
type: 'profile',
rpp: 2,
interval: 30000,
width: 'auto',
height: 300,
theme: {
shell: {
background: '#333333',
color: '#faf5fa'
},
tweets: {
background: '#000000',
color: '#a8a1a8',
links: '#2b4dd6'
}
},
features: {
scrollbar: false,
loop: false,
live: false,
hashtags: true,
timestamp: true,
avatars: false,
behavior: 'all'
}
}).render().setUser('BonafideBoards').start();

That would be the code. And when we put it in the website nothing happens. I am not sure why this is..

Seems to work fine for me, make sure you're including a script tag with http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js:

  1. <!DOCTYPE html>
  2. <html>

It looks like there's currently a bug with the API server which breaks widgets. We don't have an ETA on a fix, but you shouldn't have to do anything in the meantime -- we'll fix this on our end as soon as we can.

ok, quick question, even though at the time of grabbing the widget code i had kept the preference to Do not show TIMESTAMPS, but they're appearing(as fas as i can remember it was working fine earlier). I double checked and the timestamps is set to "false", so why do i see them now?

@daVined Poppy

TO @ed_onedirection "how to add scroll bar" to existing twitter widget
I know Squat about CODE --but I Know Answer to This! Done this many times for Sidebar & widget photos, Just did it for my site's twitter widget.

a) if no scroll bar/original design has and you want: widget too wide for (e.g., sidebar) space
b) look at html -scroll down till see: "width"
c) example: if it has "220" delete/reduce by (around) 5 until: scroll bar appears
d) e.g., on blogspot.com: widget: 220 and no scroll bar, but SAME widget: width 205 TaDa! nice big right-side scroll bar --And thin border matches other side border
If above isn't clear/you're not sure: copy/paste widget html directly into a fresh blank javascript gadget/widget, you'll have duplicate; work on duplicate until achieve goal, delete original

How do you filter the search widget to contain only the most recent tweets (say in the last 3 days) and have them ordered by date? Can this be done?

Here is the code we are currently working with:

I have been designing 3 versions of my website with Dreamweaver. I had the twitter widget in all three and when I previewed the pages in the browser, they worked absolutely fine until yesterday. When I try to preview the page in the browser (i've tried all the browsers - IE, FF, Chrome), nothing comes up at all, not even a box. I tried copying the code from twitter and re-pasting it into the html, but it still doesn't show up. Since they were working fine and then all the sudden stopped without me even touching anything in the html, I'm thinking it's something with twitter. Do I have to change a setting in my account or something?

Hi folks,

We recently made a change that requires these widgets to be loaded over a webserver (which your Dreamweavers, iWebs, and so on aren't providing for you) -- mostly to improve SSL support.

In the coming days we'll modify this behavior back to an implementation that will still be compatible with your WYSIWYG tools. Until then, load your HTML via a web server to view the "live" content within the widgets.

Thanks!

Hello,
When do you think the Profile Widget will be "back to an implementation that will still be compatible with your WYSIWYG tools" for us iWeb and Dreamweavers users? Any HTML Snippet/Widget I use on my website builder (iWeb) looks and works fine, including Youtube, Tunecore media players, etc. Is there something different with the updating of tweets reflecting correctly in the widget?

Thanks in advance…
P.S. If I load my HTML(twitter widget) via my web server, then how do I go about designing/placing it properly within my site?

Hi, did anyone get a fix ?

everything worked fine for me until a few days ago..now the twitter widget doesnt show my own tweets anymore, and also wont show the latest tweets first. As someone said above, even the play pen doesnt work anymore. So its seems only to show top tweets, and not all.

I have everything server side.

To me it seems the widegt api was changed and no longer can be used for my needs. Providing a live sevice update for trains means its vital to show latest tweets.

I did try some change to the widget.js file as mentioned on another post (and used this modifed file locally instead of https://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js) and i could get the tweets to be shown in order....to do this the following line in the widget.js had to be change:
if(!this.runOnce){this.url+="&result_type=filtered"}
and filtered changed to mixed, like this:
if(!this.runOnce){this.url+="&result_type=mixed"}

But, then all the tweets are shown with timestamp in seconds, never hours or mins...like 20345 seconds...and trying to turn of tiemstamp doesnt work..and besised why should we have to hack away at this file....

twitter, please help !!
