Though it's a bit harder to find on the site, the API offers RSS versions of any unprotected user's timeline.

For your own timeline, the URL would be:
https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=Daero_Imenance

I tried the above solution and received a page cannot be found error. what has changed? Is there now no way to get an RSS feed of a public timeline? One of my client's wants a weekly email that pulls in twitter feeds. Without RSS how can this be done?

The RSS feed URLs work for me for each of you:

https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=aprilpixie
https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=moogaloo

we're using the facebook app rss grafitti to do this on a per page basis. works like a champ, much easier than any of the other solutions

I'm getting "Not authorized". Does it have something to do with the underscore URL encode? I tried to no avail the timeline URL with %5F for the underscore encode.

Any ideas?

You have a protected account which makes it a bit more complicated to serve your tweets via RSS. In fact, without OAuth (a complicated form of asserting who is who using which application), you won't be able to use an RSS feed for your tweets without unprotecting your account.

Wow! Thanks Taylor. No sooner did you mention this did I discover the "Tweet Privacy" setting on my page. I've turned this option off and it works perfect. Thanks!

How can I get the list of all the tweets, that my account collected/aggregated (the list that being displayed on the main page of my profile/account), in RSS-parseable format?

@episod Taylor Singletary

It's possible to get the home timeline in RSS format, though it is a very lossy format as far as getting the whole tweet is concerned. You have to use OAuth to request it though, so it can be difficult -- most RSS readers out there do not support OAuth.

Can you give me the query-address/line? Anything will be fine, I'm just tired of billions separates RSS entries in my RSS-readers, I'd love to combine them all in one.

hello guys. I want to know is there any way to download all 32 pages of RSS files in one request from twitter. I saw somewhere that It is possible to write the range of pages which is required at the end of the api you mentioned above but it never worked for me.

User timeline, Twitter search, and user favorite RSS feeds can now be generated with Pixsy using the following commands:

Twitter Search Feed:
.twitter -rss [enter search term(s)]

Twitter User Timeline Feed:
.twitter -rss-u [enter Twitter user]

Twitter User Favorites Feed:
.twitter -rss-f [enter Twitter user]

This generates encoded URL's that you can enter into your feed reader. Hope that this helps! You can find Pixsy at http://www.pixsy.net/.

These commands no longer function after the Twitter API 1.1 update. Check out the Tweetledee project on GitHub for a new approach to the "old" Twitter feeds that work after the API change. Free, MIT licensed user timeline, user home timeline, user favorites, and search feeds (and JSON or pretty printed JSON if you prefer...).

Yeah... and this is not the first time they have changed the wasy this works. I wish they would just leave it alone.
If anyone knows how to create an RSS feeds now instead of the normal URL (https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=MyTwitterName), please post an answer. Thanks!

Okay... It looks like Twitter has retired API version 1. They have moved on to API version 1.1. In other words, the RSS URL will no longer be available. Instead, they require you to create a widget (See "Widgets" on your Twitter account's Settings Page). You can customize a widget and then copy the embedding code, then paste it into your website's HTML. This works rather well, but it is larger than before, and takes more real estate on my website.

this also means all of the mobile apps that use RSS feed urls, including the ONLY app for Rainmeter that works for this, are all now completely useless.

thanks twitter. good job taking care of your users

Hello everybody,

Is it still possible to generate RSS feeds since the new API v1.1 ?

The followings no longer work since the new version :
User timelines : https://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=Username
List timelines : http://api.twitter.com/1/Username/lists/Listname/statuses.atom
Search timelines : https://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=Keyword

Thanks a lot :-)

Not anymore: see the v1.1 API documentation: "... Consequently, we've decided to discontinue support for XML, Atom, and RSS, which are infrequently used today. For historical context, when we originally built the API all major languages did not have performant, well vetted libraries supporting JSON — today they do. ...."

You can create an RSS feed of a Twitter account using a service like Feed 43 - http://feed43.com/

It's a bit crude but it seems to work, it will just scrape your Twitter page for updates.

It's fairly straight forward

Add the URL of your Twitter account, then the bits you need to know are:

  1. Into "Item (repeatable) Search Pattern*:" you just need to add:
  1. <p class="js-tweet-text tweet-text">
  2. {%}
  3. </p>
  1. A blank space into "Item link template"
  2. Into "Item Content Template*:" add:
  1. {%1}

You can see a feed of the tweets on my homepage here:

http://feed43.com/2417561743138510.xml

I'm having the same problem. While the feed43 works perfectly in my feedly reader, I get the following message when I try to use it in hootsuite's rss builder: "Feeds must be given so that posted items include a link." Per my feedly test, the links are included of the RSS of Twitter account and work. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, try adding the name of your twitter feed into the box marked "Item Title Template" and the URL of your Twitter feed into "Item Link Template"

I just did it with this feed: http://feed43.com/8075064151203740.xml and it let me add it in Hootsuite no problem.
